Kate & Dom’s Sussex Barn Norfolk wedding was one of my favourites of 2019. It had so many ace little moments throughout; from kazoos and secret choirs, classic french cars in cornfields, an unexpected dramatic storm, brilliant speeches, great evening light. Oh, and they absolutely nailed the first dance too.
The day began with Kate and her bridal party getting ready in one of the cottages within the Sussex Barn Norfolk wedding venue grounds. Dom was next door in the White House, so I spent time with both the girls and the guys in the morning, capturing the details and the fun and energy they radiated. For the ceremony, the wedding party headed to Snettisham church, just a short drive away. It was the most fun church service I can recall. As well as the sincere and moving moments, there were plenty of fun and personal ones too. From readings made up of UK Garage lyrics, to kazoo melodies and a secret male voice choir. Definitely a memorable one for all involved.
After the ceremony the guests departed on London Routemaster buses, while Kate & Dom travelled in a red 2CV. We stopped by a cornfield on the way to the Sussex Barn Norfolk wedding reception for a few photos. It was a really nice moment and it’s always great for the couple to get a few minutes away from the spotlight of the wedding day and simply enjoy being together. Back at the barn it was a lot of fun. The drinks reception was full of high spirits but guests were forced indoors when a summer storm rolled in, but the fun continued inside. We remained inside for dinner and speeches, but ventured outside afterwards when a glorious summer’s evening was shaping up. There was some great light for another relaxed shoot with Kate & Dom, this time in the paddocks on the hill that catches the sun. The party started with a perfect and well rehearsed first dance which was an impressive spectacle to witness. Kate & Dom oozed fun and energy all day, and there were so many personal touches and carefully thought about moments throughout the wedding.
