Hi, I’m Ben Davis — a Cambridge wedding photographer. Thanks for stopping by.
Before weddings, I spent six years working as a press photojournalist. It’s where I learned to work fast, stay calm under pressure, and find the heart of a story in the middle of whatever’s happening. That “one-shot” mindset turned out to be perfect training for wedding days — moments happen once, and you need to be ready without ever getting in the way. I photographed my first wedding for a friend back in 2009 and it clicked straight away. That chapter as a photojournalist led to being named East of England Press Photographer of the Year, but more importantly, it gave me the confidence to walk into any room, read the energy, and help people feel comfortable being themselves.
Not long after, I followed a bit of wanderlust and spent a year travelling overland from the UK to Japan. From the Trans-Siberian railway to the plains of Mongolia, I photographed everyday life across two continents, worked with local NGOs, and even photographed a Mongolian wedding in the wilderness — probably the most remote destination wedding I’ll ever shoot. Click here if you’d like to see some of my travel photos.
After a few years as Features Editor for a leading photography magazine, I returned to shooting full-time. These days I split my time between photographing commercial work and weddings, but weddings remain my favourite stories to tell. I’m not here to chase trends — I’m here to give you an honest, beautiful record of your day that will still mean something years from now.
Home is now a village just outside Cambridge, where I live with my wife, Alice, and our two daughters, Poppy and Laurel (the inspiration behind my logo). When I’m not working, you’ll find me playing 5-a-side, strumming a guitar badly, or wandering muddy fields with a metal detector looking for bits of history. I also love reading, live music and the great outdoors.
