Lara and Will’s wedding in the picturesque village of Thriplow was an absolute firecracker of a day. From the very first shutter click, you could feel the electricity in the air—this wasn’t just a wedding; it was a masterclass in how to throw a serious party.
The morning set the tone perfectly. I spent time with Lara and her bridesmaids at her family home, capturing the quiet (and not-so-quiet!) anticipation of the morning. Meanwhile, my trusty second shooter was down at the village pub with Will and the boys, capturing those final pre-ceremony pints and the stroll through the village lanes to the church. Having that extra pair of eyes meant we didn’t miss a single angle of the morning’s build-up.
After a beautiful ceremony in the village church, the celebrations moved back to the heart of the action: Lara’s family home. They had managed a minor architectural miracle, squeezing a stunning, beautifully decorated marquee into the garden, nestled perfectly between the blooming flower beds and the family swimming pool. It created an incredibly intimate, “secret garden” feel that was totally unique.
If I had to pick one word for this wedding, it would be energy.
Rather than a traditional stroll into the wedding breakfast, the bridal party kicked things off with a high-octane dance routine that blew the roof off the marquee. That momentum didn’t stop; the “party before the party” continued with more dancing between every single speech. It was impossible not to smile behind the camera—the laughter was infectious, and the joy was relentless.
As the sun dipped and the evening began, the vibes only got cooler. Lara made a quick change into a stunning evening dress, the DJ turned things up a notch, and the dancefloor became the permanent home for every guest in attendance.
It was one of those days that reminds me why I love being a documentary wedding photographer. No stiff posing, no forced smiles—just a cool couple, a huge garden party, and a lot of very happy people.
